Some businesses dealing with money, gold, bonds, & etc have what people call a “Collapsing Vault” on their premises. It sounds intriguing. What exactly is a “Collapsing Vault” & how does it work? An expert in the online payment processor business had mentioned that the “Collapsing Vault” is actually how the vault is constructed. The vault has a back wall & floor that is made of a solid steel plate.

The safes are bolted & welded to the solid steel plates. The side wall & ceiling is welded together at a minute angle. The steel wall leans inwards when a particular amount of weight is applied to it. As the seams become weaker, the steel plate will fall forward as the weight of the safes pulls it.
