The first impression I got from the Spock.com website is a simple & straightforward people search online application. It looks so simple that I actually astonished that I could find information about a particular person in the world using it. Of course, the person I am looking for would have to have some kind of profound presence on the web (at least a web page) so that Spock.com can provide the correct results. It is a fun application at http://www.spock.com/?utm_source=ReviewME&utm_medium=Blog&utm_campaign=ReviewMe4 where we can type in a name, keyword or location & receive some unexpected results.
You can find whoever you want on Spock.com – A Great Place for Search. Of course finding celebrities is much easier than finding your long lost brother from Vietnam for example on the internet. When you type in the keywords “Doctors & Orlando” to find doctors in Orlando & etc, you receive the search results. Spock.com searches from everywhere, all over the internet & in its membership database. Nonetheless, there may be one or two search results in the above example that include a real estate agent or even Shaq O’ Neil.
I searched for the Hollywood actress, Anna Faris (Scary Movies super star) at Spock.com. The search results are aplenty & most of it yielded results from MySpace pages. I don’t know which one is the real web page for Anna Faris. Anybody can pop up a MySpace page & claim to be the actress. Anyway, the search results like the one I have on this post can be placed on your website or blog by using the widget provided by Spock.com. I reckon it is a useful thing since it is relevant & convenient to your readers.
Spock.com is also a good tool for finding someone who likes things in common with you. Type in a keyword & the search results shall lead you to their web page, blog or whatever web presence they have online. Spock.com is not a social network so it is best to contact the person of your interest through the provided website in the search result.
